atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 I got a nice looking set of Seaducers in from Utyer today- thanks for the extras
iFly 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2013 Dang. I meant to put in some extras for you and left them next to my vice. Just realized that, sorry. Another thing for everybody, when you get my flies I would put an extra coat of anything on the thread wraps. I put some sally hansens on it then wrapped the thread into it but the reds really grind it with their teeth so if you have super glue or epoxy I would recommend using that. Reason why I didnt put it on myself is incase someone might want to put a weedguard on the fly without one.
dontheo 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2013 Does that make me the last? I just have the eyes left. I hate that part for some reason. It mnakes me want to drink and the next thing you kmow, they are still waiting the next day. lol
atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2013 We have until the 14th so no worries Dontheo. Ifly- dont worry about the extras i would like to see a pic of that Frankenshrimp fly that you have been nailing fish on though. I used Sally Hansens on mine as well and applied it lightly and carefully because I used EP fibers for my fly.
atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 I received a nice looking set of flys today from ifly, we have 2 more sets still out there and then i will ship them to everyone. Ifly- what was the name of your fly?
iFly 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Sorry for the delayed response...thanks and I don't have a name for it actually...just never thought about it. Actually if you want you can name it cause I suck at naming flies. Here's a picture of ChefBens fly:
atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2013 If i tied it I would call it the Gingerman since it is tied with Ginger marabou and the name of my favorite brewpub downtown is called The Gingerman; in any case it looks like it will be a fish catcher for sure.I have been trying to name this Tarpon fly after my daughter for 2 weeks now but still havent nailed down a name for it yet. Chefbens fly looks nice, its always cool to see what people are using in other states and bodies of water.
iFly 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2013 The gingerman. I like it. Congrats atx, you just named the fly. That's what I'll call it from now on. I really do think that's a perfect name for it. You've got a point about the different locations-different flies. I've got a buddy that goes down to Louisiana every year for the big boys and some of the flies he takes with him are rediculous. He invites me every year but it's always when I have something going on. Ill have to make time to go in the next year or so. Good luck with naming that tarpon fly! atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2013 Glad you like the name. You should try out LA I hear that the fishing there is great, if you ever head to the TX coast let me know my wife and I have a house in Port O Connor, TX. We dont have a flats boat but we have an 18 ft Boston Whaler and I can chase Tarpon and Jacks out of it.
iFly 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2013 It's on my bucket list to fish the LA marshes...thanks for the offer. If I ever make my way down there I might have to take you up on that. Same for you if you ever wander up to Charleston. Actually another thing on my bucket list is to go duck hunting on the Texas coast for pintail and redheads...do you know of bay flats lodge? I don't think it's far from you if I remember correctly.
atxdiscgolfer 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2013 I think that it is Castaway lodge out of Seadrift and if so we have used Kris Kelly (owner) as a guide several times for fishing and we always do well and from what I hear the dude actually murders ducks and geese as well. iFly 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2013 I know the Texas coast down there is well known for the massive amounts of pintails and redheads (top on my list) so I plan to get down there during my lifetime to duck hunt and fish. The sooner the better.
