First attempt at a slider

Recommended Posts

That'll work. Good looking deer hair. Only thing I can say in the way of constructive comment is the hook seems a bit on the small side for the size of the fly- looks to be about a 4xl streamer hook. Might want to go to a shorter-shank hook which would give you a larger gape for the same length shank. Very nice fly. All-white is a great choice most of the time.

Thanks JSzymczyk,

Yes, it on a Mustad 34011 size 2. I really wanted to tie it on a 1/0 hook, but I only have 34007 in size 1 and 2. I tied a shorter bodied version on a size 1 34007, but it's not slider style. The tails curve away from each other.

I was a bit worried about the gape and wrestled quite a bit over even buying them, but what the heck.

Nice tye!

Try using M3407DT hooks. I got a lot of 34007 but hardly ever use them anymore tho. Reason being they dont offer enough of a gap in them.
