cheech 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2013 My only question is about the kicker legs. Is there mono glued along the back of the leg? I think it could be torn off. The mono for the back of the kicker looks good. Perhaps you could knot it and glue it all along the back of the foam. Or fold 1mm foam over a mono core. I usually can see a hopper pretty well, and don't bother with a strike indicator, but that's just me. The mono bonds surprisingly well with the foam. I know they won't pull out (testing was done there;) but the question is how long will the foam fore-leg last... I have tugged and pulled on it, and I think it will be surprisingly durable. We'll see. I always have an indicator on even the biggest of foam flies due to changing light conditions. This one also rides surprisingly low.

switch10 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2013 More perch fry! I messed up the lateral lines on the second one, and I haven't put lateral lines on the top one yet. They are pseudo hair with minnow belly mixed in with the white, and gold angel hair mixed in with the yellow to add some flash. The body is a dubbing loop of AZ synthetics cream colored dubbing. I don't tie any patterns like this, and this is my first time working with most of these materials, so any thoughts on what I can do to improve would be appreciated. Nice work. Regarding the Roy's RPE, is the 206BL your hook preference over other choices?
Kimo 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 mridenourFishypieter sunsignarcher Thanks for the positive comments!!! Mahalo, Kimo Hi Kimo, I guess that was your video on youtube I watched the other day. Nice work. Regarding the Roy's RPE, is the 206BL your hook preference over other choices? Bugsy, Glad you liked the video!. Yes, mostly because that is what I have around. I like that it's black, has a huge gape, light wire and an upturned eye to let the tail clear. I also like it on a TMC2312 but then I have to add a bit more of a bump of thread at the eye so that the tail clears the eye of the hook. I like the added length of the shank of the 2312 because we have huge midges at a nearby Res. I also have tied it on a 400T but the hook is a bit light for me. I also tie it on a Daiichi 1220 but then I have to add a bit of a bump thread and and put the tail to outside of the hook. The hook is stronger though and has a bit of a "S" curve. As I said when I introduced myself, it's been about 20 years since the last time I tied. Knocked out about 11 dozen in April .... Zooms coming down the pike next!
