utyer 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Tied this up. Claws are pheasant plumage coated with fleximent, and then the center is clipped out. Body is chenille twisted and mottled with a marker. Legs are saddle hackle. Back is turkey tail ribbed with mono. Hook is a Green Caddis 5263 size 2. Fly is weighted.
Kudu 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Looks good! How does it swim and catch?
utyer 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2013 Can't tell you about swimming and catching, I have one more month before the state lets me fish as a resident. I will try it then.
Old Hat 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2013 I like the pattern utyer. One of the simpler patterns for crawfish I have seen and has all the triggers. I would test it in the water though. I am thinking that it might swim upside down. However, I can't see the eye as to how it is oriented or how it is weighted. If weighted to swim as shown, you might want to think about changing it so the hook point rides up. Just a thought.
BigDaddyHub 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Tie a similiar, albiet not as elegant, pattern...swims fine...my flies are un weighted and I use a small split shot about 3 inches above the fly....gives it a depth and a great "slow sink" after the strip because sinker sinks faster than the fly....shoulod be a very productive pattern utyer! Thank you for sharing this one!
