FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Busy tying Orange Heron's (Howell) style, obviously neat heads were not on the agenda and cranking out some quick fishing flies was. Quite effective fly! First one is with the orange hackle and next is the grey (bad pics) but going fishing tomorrow = need flies!

NMflyguy 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 In March someone broke the window out of my truck and took my pack with basically all of my flies in it, so I've been hard at work restocking! A few of my favorites from the last couple weeks: Sz 14 Yellow Stimulator sz 14 Little Yellow Stonefly nymph sz 16 CDC emerger Edit: fixed my gigantic pictures

throwinflys 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 I've only been tying for 4 1/2 months (or since christmas) so they aren't perfect but here's my first "flies from the vice" submission.
Piker20 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 Look forward to seeing more. I like the emerger, good shades of colours in that one.
jd1983 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 I just recently got interested in tying again and decided, at some advice I saw on this forum, to focus on woolly buggers but really focus on the techniques used in basic tying. I think I am starting to get a better handle on the basic techniques. Here are two of the most recent buggers I have tied yesterday and a picture of what I have done the past couple days. mridenour 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 You have enough there to catch a BUNCH of fish! I fish woolies about half the time it seems like.
throwinflys 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2013 piker- thank you! i'll be sure to keep posting pics as I come along! jd- those look sweet. I had never fished with a wooley bugger before this past weekend. i'd tied a few olive ones with ice dub instead of chenille and when I got to the river and no fish were rising, I took advice from a guy who had hooked and lost one fish on an olive bugger. so I threw it on and caught my only 4 fish of the weekend!
