Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Hit the Au Sable over the past few days for steelhead. There were some fish in the river but warm weather and crowds made the steelhead bite tough. So we switched to trout in the upper reaches of the river. The recent rains still had the water level high and stained, so we switched to "Plan C". That's why I love the Au Sable, there is always a section that will give up fish when the other sections are not fishable. First couple smallies of the year as well as my buddy Mark getting his first pike of the year.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2013 Au Sable is Michigan. Got them on a chartreuse & white fly I tie that is basically like a half & half. Always works good on the smallies in the Au Sable.

Chefben4 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Nicely done Steve. Its nice just to get out! I was out on Lake St. Clair today.. caught 12 pike and missed probably as many. Soon as we got in to them they were everywhere. All hammer handles for the most part but still fun!
