Noggin10 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Have any of y'all used these hooks? I picked up a pack and the retainer bend seems pretty cool.
Old Hat 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 They have their purpose. I personally like them for Elk Hair Caddis and X-Caddis patterns. You have to be careful of cutting your thread on the point when wrapping to the back of the shank. They hook well, but I haven't seen a difference in "retaining" ability compared to standard designs. FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Barbless hook, small eye - quite a few uses and i really like it but a buddy just showed me some of the knapek or something competition hooks of similar quality, great for trout. I like the retainer bend. As above doing a long body be careful with thread.
Curtis Fry 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Yeah, I like 'em. They seem to hold fish relatively well and the wire is light enough but still strong. I did a PT tutorial using this hook here: http://www.flyfishfood.com/2013/05/green-spot-pheasant-tail.html
JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2013 Nice hook, can't do anything several other hooks can do just as well.
