June 2013 flies from the vice

Recommended Posts

utyer,

I like the bend backs. I have been wanting to do them for a while now. I think it would be very effective "as weedless goes". I guess one would have to experiment with the amount of bucktail for the weed guard to get the effect one would want. I figured I would put a lot of bucktail on the first flies I tied. I figure I can always trim some off at the lake if I was missing strikes. I really like the bend back design. I'm printing the pics you posted for future reference.

Nice looking tie; what material did you use for the wings?

Some teeny PT nymphs. 18s here, 20s to come. No idea if I can do smaller than 20 on these.

And that little wheatley is a perfect lil nymph/BWO box, hehe

Tied up a few muddlers today. I've never tied these before and was suprised at how they turned out. Now to just go catch some fish on them!

My 1st ever size 20 PT (the one on the right of course, other is an 18) nymph (so its on a 1x long hook!) i am not sure I can make em smaller. And learning that at this size, even with 70 d thread, every single wrap must be important, or dont make it. They bulk up FAST.
