HammerCreek 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2013 Sometimes my mind wonders while fishing and I was thinking about this while stream-side this weekend. If I were dropped in a remote location with: 1 Type of hook in one size 5 Tying materials 1 Type of thread in one color Assuming I was packing a vise, 4wt and in a trout habitat what would I choose...I'm as interested in what you would select as I am your reasoning. flytire 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2013 the left photo is just an xacto knife without the blade the middle photo is a "streamside vise". the right photo are pin vises google will find all of them close to you the only one that really makes any sense is the "streamside vise". you could screw it into just about anything made of wood. the other two would take more dexterity but if you could hold the device in one hand and tie with the other you're in business. Crackaig 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2013 Hook: Medium wire #14 Suppose I'd have to go for cree hackle. Gold wire in 0.3mm. Pheasant Tail. Glo Brite floss No. 12. Hare's mask. Primrose thread. (Gutterman Scala) That would tie the flies for much of my river fishing. It would be different for the lochs. Cheers, C.
