Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 I left off the tail pieces to allow the fly to swim straight and make it easier to tie in the mono weed guard.

Peterjay 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 Fred, this one might be my all-time favorite of all your patterns, and that's really saying something. No fish in his right mind's gonna pass that one up. Masterful tie!
flytyer56 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 Fred, awesome looking little craw. You won't be able to keep the fish off of that one.
Piker20 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 So how do I go about receiving a set of Freds flies to frame up and stare at in AWE? Agree with PJ, this ones right up there with the best of the realistic flies.
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks Fishypieter, Peter,Flytyer56, and Piker. This pattern is still evolving . It changes a little each time I tie it but I kinda pleased with the way this one turned out.
FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 Kick ass fly! To make it fishable for me i would have to make it hook point up as i would snag it first cast and have to go and swim to get it back, maybe some weight to get it down and point up. Smallies in the rocks would chew it to pieces.

FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 More fishable than i thought! The small claws and lack of tail are great, these can cause the fly to spin if too big.
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 More fishable than i thought! The small claws and lack of tail are great, these can cause the fly to spin if too big. Thanks, my thinking also. I patterned this off of a live crawfish I caught. Width ,length ...etc are as close as I could get them. And being tied with mono being the primary commponent it is very tough. AK Skim 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2013 Outstanding tie and pattern you have there. Â Usually when you see something that good you can rightly say it is a fly that catches people. Â Also true for that one is it will catch fish as well.
