Carp in the kayak: sleigh ride time

Got this one on Saturday, 28 3/4" long. Fought really hard, and not having a net made getting him in the boat very tricky.

Nice! What fly did you use?

 

A fly I came up with, sort of an off-shoot of the Backstabber fly. I use Pseudo Hair for the wing with some rubber legs thrown in and a small glass rattle under the dubbed body. Fish react to it pretty well.

The best I can do right now is two pics of the fly from last year. Here's the rattle and bead chain eyes on the hook, a #6 Mustad 3366:

And the completed fly, with a dubbed body of black Spectrablend Nymph dubbing and a wing of black Pseudo Hair. And obviously the chartreuse rubber legs:

Nice catch!

Water looks better than i last fished it last year. A trip forthcoming in a week or so.:-)
