July 2013 Flies From The Vise

Recommended Posts

A bit more rigid sounds like they might not compress as well at the tie in point and possibly collapse the wrong way, seen a load of flies using single barbs as 'horns'. Keep at it!

yeah the horns are common, almost only use you find. This pair may swim off centre so I'll have to see how bad it is but for fishing they hopefully will be fine, and the shades of blue and yellow make an interesting look.

Have had the opportunity tie and fish a lot of these lately on the nearby res. and the creeks in the mountains.

Thanks Piker. I gave the quill body a coat of sally Hansen. Also, the tails have a very light coat of head cement coating the fibets.

I had a few tips from this forum on ways to improve the proportions and will have an improved version in the August version of this thread!

Not been able to fish or tie for absolutely ages due to an operation on my shoulder.
