shoebop 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 Very nice Crackaig. I have become a soft hackle convert myself. They will produce when all else fails it seems. What size hook are you having the most success with (with this pattern)?
sunsignarcher 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 That mouse and bee are flat out perfect. Are you burning the hair?
rolsen 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 Cute face on that bumble bee, Rolsen. My wife wants me to tie one just like it ... without the hook point ... and make an earring out of it. I hope it catches fish as well as it caught my wife. I tied that one just for fun. Eyes are made of UV glue and painted black with water proof marker. That mouse and bee are flat out perfect. Are you burning the hair? Thanks I was lazy with the bee and used lighter, would normally steam the hair and then cut it again.
Crackaig 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 Very nice Crackaig. I have become a soft hackle convert myself. They will produce when all else fails it seems. What size hook are you having the most success with (with this pattern)? With Rainbows size 8 with browns anything from 8 to 16. There's nothing like macro photography for showing imperfections. These are for a neighbour who visits Canada every year. Some small stuff, and some not so... Cheers, C.

FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 Messing around on the ipad, just whipped these little hopes, want to see if they work for salmon in a smaller size as for steelhead it is candy in your larger sizes.
Chefben4 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2013 A few days ago I posted a fly tied with the FishSkull articulated spine..its obvious its gaining momentum and we are going to see more. I myself dont fish what I consider small flies often. Being a Musky fisherman I look for big. The below fly is one I tied up this weekend that better suits my needs. I made the shanks and then started tying. Personally I think it needs some work as far as looks go. I was in a rush a butchered the trim job on it. The front hook is an 8/0 gamakatsu and the rear is a 6/0 "split hook". Regardless, I swam it yesterday. Its pretty awesome! Will continue to work on the pattern and see what I can come up with. Edit: I realize there is nothing to judge size. This fly comes in around 13".
