swap club 2013 - July

Recommended Posts

as usual, Nate Dubay found a way to have the most original and unusual pattern in the bunch.

I forget what the hell I tied for this one... either a frog or a stealth bomber... I think I did the latter because I thought alot of the guys on here had my frog from an earlier swap. The bomber is actually really easy, the foam is in a martini glass shape and you start by tying it in on the stem section. I can do a SBS if anyone wants.

Well I'll let you down this month, I just got them in the mail today. Nothing spectacular, but I was messing around with the stuffing from a recent dog toy kill. Sorta looked like snowshoe hare to me, so I treated it with floatant. The body I was messing around with mylar ribbon, but in a way that makes it subtle. The end result is nothing crazy, sort of blurs the line between a midge and a small may in my mind, but the important thing is I picked up a couple solid tying methods.

I'll try to get back to my usual craziness next month...

Thanks for the love by the way, I just did a CFR donation and I was super paranoid about putting all these wild pink flies in there, then having some stodgy old traditionalist casting instructor open up her fly box and dump them into the river in disgust. So I kept them traditionalish... just with a splash of pink and purple here and there...
