Zedd 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2013 I started bending hooks a year or more ago. I can bend them and shape them, but haven't been as successful at tempering and finishing my hooks. I have to temper tools I resharpen at the j.o.b.. One trick I learned as a sailor was immediately after the temperature is reached, probably just beginning to glow, quench the hook with silicon spray. The silicon will come out at about -5 to minus a lot more degrees. This will temper my tools, maybe it will work on hooks. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
