Salmon

Recommended Posts

In the GL area they strike for a couple reasons. One is out of anger from seeing a bright fly going past them when they are in the spawn mode. The other is a natrual instinct when they see something that reminds them of a food source that they use to feed on in the big lake.

Spawning fish will also grab an egg simply as a way of eliminating competition for their offspring (if it's coming from upstream It's not their egg).

Depends on where you're fishing for them. In the salt and saltflux, they'll still feed. Have caught a few barely entering the main rivers (still salt influenced) that aggressively hit food sources (baitfish and shrimp patterns). In the rivers, it's mostly an aggression thing. Lots of flash and movement will provoke them. Eggs will work too. Hottest "bait" for kings is a big bait of eggs drifted (or under a float) through a hole.
