LeakyWaders 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2013 My newest project involves creating a big mess. Stacking deer hair. It's not something I'm very good at, but with a lot of patience and practice, it's slowly getting better. Let me know what you think.

Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Very nice flies. Looks like you've found the secret to packing the hair super-tight. Are you using a SF Fugly Packer to do that?
TheCream 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Did you steam these heads before trimming? I've read where some people do that, some don't. I'm yet to try steaming.
SILKHDH 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 You really did a good job. Nice tight packing.
LeakyWaders 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm using the fugly packer. It's one good tool. No more pierced fingers! And no, I don't steam my flies. I probably will eventually, but right now I'm just trying to learn some different tricks and technique. The flies don't have to be perfect yet, since they're not worthy of a spot on the wall. Put on the wall or not as you will but many would be happy to eventually reach this level. Keep a few of the first ones and as you go along so you can assess your progress.
