Father & son rods

Recommended Posts

Here's a pair done for a father and son that are just getting into fly fishing. Blanks are Matrix 5wt 9ft 4pc with wood seats and nickle silver hardware, custom grips, SF minima guides.

Awesome Steve. Max and I need a set. Btw I'm getting the itch for a 10wt. I've laid the smack down on them with the 6wt you made for me.

I agree with Blane, those are beautiful Steve. About how long does it take to get you to build a custom rod if I get on your waiting list? If I can swing the money I would like to get you to build one for my son when he gets back from sand land. I planned to get him another rod and I think one from you would be a perfect gift.

It really just depends on the backlog of orders more than anything, which varies. I do this full time so I have a much faster turn around than most builders since I can build 10-14hrs 6-7 days a week, but there are times when I get slammed with a bunch of orders and it backs me up. On average at any given time I have a 2-3 week backlog, sometimes sooner, sometimes later, but plan on 3 weeks at most times.

"sand land"?? is he in the service?

Thanks for the reply Steve. Yep, he is in the Army and I plan on getting him a nice rod when he gets home in late spring or early summer. I don't know if you can get little insignias for Airborne or Army Special Forces, but that would be a really nice touch if you can.
