kimjensen 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 A little copper fly. I have that fly in my fly box; tied by you!Enjoyed the 2 days we got to fish together at Lon Hagler!!!! How's the new rod? I'm not sure I'm the right guy? But my rod is nice :-) can't complain.
kimjensen 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Piker20. This one is pretty heavy dressed. There's 2 versions of it, this type and a scud looking one. All the shiny fibers is hard to resist I guess :-) Yes it's the more scud type I've seen. I'll swim some this spring and see how the Scottish fish like it. Be careful, they might be danish and know the fly ;-)

Crackaig 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 If you want Fury foam look for "Beading Mats " on ebay. They are fury foam but much bigger sheets for about the same price. Cheers, C.
FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 Midnight Canyon - a pretty average effort but should fish, wings screwed up and needed thinner orange strips. The marabou should be interesting, seems a bit like a popsicle type fly with wings to make it less plebeian.

Do I see ice dub there? I tied a couple with quick descent copper as an under body and ice dub over top to add weight without needing lead wire. If the fish are Danes I'll be in heaven, I've seen the size of some of the salt pigs. The Scot fish are a bit more calorie conscious.

I used 0.15 nonlead wire on a size 10 Partridge CS54 hook. Some of them are pretty big. Caught a about 60cm seatrout last month very early morning before sunrise on a black woolly bugger with 2 glowing beads in front of the fly. A 40cm +- took it right after. No more activity after that, but it's the easiest half hour I have fished :-) the fly was dead after the first one, so remember to rib your flies. :-)
Piker20 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2013 I don't mind losing the fly when its due to a big fish.
