tsimon555 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2013 Have a few books off the beginner list for freshwater, but am looking for a good beginner pattern book for gulf coast saltwater inshore species(flies; escpecaily decievers, clousers, bend backs, bait fish patterns, crab and shrimps patterns and other popular inshore fishing flys for snook red, trout, and other gulf species) Thanks and I know the clouser is a good place for me to get started. Love any suggestions for a newb! Thanks! Thanks in advance, Tony
agn54 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2013 Check out Essential Saltwater Flies by Ed Jaworoski, great book. Saltwater Patterns by Lefy Kreh and Innovative Saltwater Patterns by Veverka are also good. One I really like is Adams' Fly Fisherman's Guide to Saltwater Prey: How to Match Coastal Prey Fish and Invertebrates With the Fly Patterns That Imitate Them. tsimon555 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks for the info! So Lefty Kreh's Saltwater Patterns is more a recipe book than step by step?

Saltybum 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2013 Once you get a good feel from Ed Jaworoski's book you should be able to tie from the other pattern books. I also have Bob and Lefty's books but need to check out the others too. All good stuff.
