Fisherboy0301 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2014 My first attempt at a dry fly, didn't have brown hakle, or calf tail, so i used deer hair, and just grizzly hackle.
rotaryflytyingdotcom 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2014 Fisherboy0301 - you got it going on. Nice job. The tail fibers look like they may be a little softer hackle than normally used for tails but nice job.
shoebop 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2014 The fact that you used deer hair for the post instead of calf tail made your body a little chunky. A little less hair (about 1/2) for the post might have solved that. For a first try, I think you did just fine.
tyingjunkie 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2014 looks pretty good. have you tried a more traditional dry with the hackle around the body as opposed to a parachute style? parachute tends to be a little more tricky i think. Very good job though.
m_grieb 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2014 looks good, I would thin up the post to de-bulk the body. nice one though! Â Matt
Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Looks good! Proportions look right, very neat job with the wing post and hackle, nicely tapered body - maybe a bit thick at the thorax but shouldn't stop it from catching fish. Nice work.
