utyer 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Xray, Isn't that what all drug dealers say?
Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 It took me a couple of days searching drug stores, but it turns out Dollar General has them 5/$1. I doubt you have DG in Alberta, but maybe it will help someone else. What was really fun was trying to explain what these blades were for to the teenage girl working at the drug store. I feel the need to explain myself when buying small baggies, razor blades, and shipping small packages inside larger packages. "No ma'am, I'm not a mail order drug dealer." LOL - never thought of that. Next time I'm in, I think I'll get the baggies, razor blades, some cheap cigars (explaining that I need the glass tubes for my "hobby") and a pack of butane lighters. That should get me arrested before I make it back to my car.

Bugsy 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I feel the need to explain myself when buying small baggies, razor blades, and shipping small packages inside larger packages. "No ma'am, I'm not a mail order drug dealer." About 5 or 6 years ago, I made one of those rare trips to walmart. On that occasion, it was to pick up double edged razors for tying. I grabbed at least eight packages of blades, most of what they had on the peg hook and headed to the register. There I am, in line behind several others, holding these packs of blades and nothing else. Then I have one of those "oh, great" moments: I realized it was late afternoon on Halloween. No weird looks were given, fortunately, and no explanation was made on my part. But I was a bit uncomfortable.
phg 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 Single edged blades are actually fairly easy to find. Painters use them in scrapers, so Home Depot and Lowes usually have them in their paint department.

A single is made of thicker metal and won't flex like a double. The singles will just break. Plus they don't hold an edge nearly as well.
Gene L 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 I agree that double-edge blades are WAY sharper than single-edge blades. I have both, use the S-E for removing waste on a ruined fly. I doubt they've been used for shaving for years. They're good for some crafts, but not great for shaping deer hair.
