mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2014 Actually ... butthead ... I am in Chicago doing classes this week and next. I am feeling the chill, as this screen shot from yesterday morning shows. I'd love to visit, but I am frozen to the ground here !!!

mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2014 I am SOOOO glad you are enjoying my misery. Today started out at -7 F. The Wife (super smart gal but not keen on temperature scales) said, "Just be glad it's not Centigrade!" I had to explain to her that 0 C is the freezing point of water. That when Centigrade is use for summer temps, it's a hotter temp for a similar number to Fahrenheit. That -7 F would be stated as about -36 C ... so I'd be LESS miserable if it was only -7 C. I think she understood ... but I was telling her this over the phone, so the chattering of my teeth might have made understanding ... problematic. She DID pick up on the fact that I said "LESS miserable" ... not that I'd be glad. Cold is COLD ... I'll only be HAPPY or GLAD when I am back home. agn54 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2014 Don't worry Mike, it's actually pretty cold down here now too. The high today was in the 50's and it was rainy so we are definitely in winter conditions By the way, BDH it's great to see you haunting these boards again
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2014 Yeah, it could be worse, Rolf. I could be snowed in at Steve's place. He'd probably put me to work, cleaning aquariums or something.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2014 We're getting another 5" right now as I type this. The total snow so far this winter here is 78" so far.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2014 Well, you know what they say ... haters will hate. Nothing I can do about that. But I will be thinking about all you cold weather denizens while I am wiping the sunscreen on later this afternoon. If it's any consolation, I won't be fishing though. I have to trim some Bouganvillia bushes. Even in this ... paradise like ... warmer climate, there are still chores to be done. You shovelling snow ... me doing yard work. Oh well, someone has to do it.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2014 The high snow amounts here are actually a Godsend IMO. The water levels here in our Great Lakes has been going down more and more each year because of lack of snow during the winters, and that in turn makes for lower water levels in the rivers and makes for hard summer fishing. With all this snow we are geeting here this winter it's just what the docter ordered for a great summer of fishing
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2014 Yeah ... we need rain down here, too. Not getting it, but it is good to see the snow. If only you could get snow without cold weather !!! Anyway, just to remind everyone ... if you get to Florida, look me up. I can't guarantee big fish ... but you should be able to catch a few fishing the pads. The bass get pretty big, but a lot of these little guys are always ready to bite something. And some pretty members of the Sunfish family ... a Redbreast Sunfish. A Spotted Sunfish ... The Spotted Sunfish look a lot prettier than they photograph ... this close up shows the colors better. Anyway ... temps in the 80s ... water temp in the upper 60s. fish caught on my Panfish Attractor and a Floating Ant.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2014 That spotted sunfish is really pretty. Never seen one like that before.
