Catalpa_Joe 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2014 Here's a pic of some Flo Green Chenille I bought from a supplier in Western Canada a couple years ago. I can't remember who it is. Can anyone help or advise a US supplier. The chenille is flo green about 3/16" dia, maybe a tad smaller & very soft. Not stiff bristles like some I bought recently from Cabelas. I checked H&H in the US but no go. The label on the package said H&H Canada. Thanks in advance for any leads you can furnish.

whatfly 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Oddly enough, the label says Hook and Hackle which is same name as a US mail order house, so you might want to contact them: https://www.hookhack.com/
JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 From the pic it looks like just regular old rayon chenille, probably size medium in fluorescent green. Rayon chenille is not stiff or bristly in any way- over the past several years with the explosion of "super, ultra, trilobal, antron, ice" and all manner of other chenilles, many newer tiers don't even know about the old standard regular rayon chenille which was a mainstay of tying for many many years. Still is in fact. Any materials supplier should have it, and it is cheap so buy a few packs and find out.
JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 This would appear to confirm my suspicion: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RADIANT-CHENILLE-PINK-MEDIUM-SIZE-FLY-TYING-MATERIALS-/111238621684 It's just regular old chenille in a fluorescent color. Nothing magic or special about it. Here, JStockard has it for $2.05 per card. http://www.jsflyfishing.com/item/SM-700130-0000/Hareline-Chenille-Medium/1.html

Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 If all else fails contact Cascade Crest here in the states (cascadecrest.com). That outfit makes a lot of their own material and can usually match anything you send them in the way of a sample....

Have you tested it with a UV flashlight to see if it actually fluoresces. It may be chartreuse green which does not actually fluoresce,
cheech 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Chances are that you can just go find the closest substitute to your material and tie flies with it. I bet the fish won't care. I do this all the time, but I know guys who go insane when materials are discontinued (Gudebrod thread, Scintilla dubbing, etc.)
Ty Flyer 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2014 Cabela's has Rayon chenille for even cheaper than JSzymczyk stated, 1.99 a card.
petelangevin 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 If you plan on usung the same pattern for years. Call danville and buy a skein. It should last you for years. May never run out of a color again. Skein is cheap compared to buying a card. 77 or 144 yards per skein depending on size. Think its like 12$ a skein. Comes out to about 8c per yard vs cabellas 5 yard cards which are about 50-75c per yard.
