Playing around with some new materials, this one is Baserisk Tail for the wing. Tied on a size 14 salmon doubles.

Never catch a cold on them Al. Leave them in the porch and I'll responsibly remove them for you.

Did you get out at the beach? Tried last night but the full moon was never going to help. Not a sniff.

Colin, Did you ever pick up the last ones or has someone with light fingers visited me? I have a couple that do so I would not be surprised. Baserisk tail is like squirrel but not as hard or stiff. Its stiffer than Arctic fox though. I have a good supply if you would like to try some. Also lots of black dyed swan that I've used for the body on these.

Also I now have the materials to tie a very old fly something of a favourite of mine, but what is it called?

Hook: 18 B/L Dry Fly

Thread: Vevus 12/0 white (Just trying this out, not sure if I like it yet).

Tail: Red Wool

Body: Blue/Yellow Macaw Tail

Hackle: Honey Dun

I love the way the colour of the body changes with the angle you view it from.

Cheers,

C.

Right side up ... it looks just like one. When I was fishing the Jersey shoreline last year, the sand eels looked just like your fly. Should attract some attention, hopefully the BIG kind.
