earthtech 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2014 What size tungsten beads do ya'll use for 12-20 hooks? I will be adding tungsten or lead wire to flies as well so the bead will not be the only weight.
Piker20 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2014 Here is a size guide for beads. Note its not a rule just a guide. 1/16"....1.5mm ....20-265/64th" ...2.0 mm 16-203/32" .....2.3mm 14-187/64" .... 2.8mm 12-161/8" .....3.3mm 10-143/16" ...3.8mm 6-103/16" ....4.8mm 2-81/4" .....6.4mm 1/0-4 What I would say though is Tungsten is a lot heavier than brass and not always really needed, especially if you're adding lead wraps as well. JSzymczyk 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2014 Use the size that looks the way you want, and gets the job done. There are no RULES when it comes to beads and hooks. In fact there pretty much are not any rules in fly tying at all.
