netabrookie 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2014 I have had this on my mind all day and have tossed a zillion versions around in my pea brain, but I think I will just keep it simple with only a minor change from Fishingbobnelson's pattern. Since I am eliminating any goose or gander components I can't think of a catchy name to continue the play on Sharon's original pattern so I will call this one the "Quilled Grizzly Duck" if that's OK with everyone. hook- size 14 dry tail- yellow grizzly hackle fibers body- ginger quill wing- lemon wood duck flank (or wood duck imitation if I don't have enough of the real thing) hackle- brown and grizzly dry hackle I know that I said I would bat one out of the park but I think I only put it down the third base line for a single... If I am wrong and have goofed up by misunderstanding the rules then let me know and I will change something to conform Thank for hosting Rockworm

Just a reminder to all: Your job is to mutate the fly of the swapper immediately preceding you. And base the name of your mutant on the name of the preceding one. You can effectively ignore the names of the earlier flies and the materials comprising them.

rockworm 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2014 Cute name DJ! Depending upon how the wings are tyed the last 4 creations all sound like they could be excellent matches for the Yellow Mays (Stenonema spp) hatches which occur around here most of the summer. Next batter: mybadhabit.
