JayWirth 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2014 I have been tying some Catskill Style flies looking forward to a trip to the Beaverkill (if rain would let up). I have the steps down pretty good now and have the tying time down to about 10 minutes each. This is a Cahill Light on a size 12 hook.
JohnP 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2014 I'm no expert on Catskill style flies, but those will definitely fish. Great job!
RCFetter 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2014 I'm just a beginner at tying but that fly looks great to me.
shoebop 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2014 Well done Jay. You even left the extra bare shank behind the eye...a catskill characteristic that most tyers leave out these days.

Troutbum11 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 From what I collect from the other posts, the bare shank before the eye is a characteristic of Catskill flies? That's interesting! is there a purpose behind that or is it just how they are traditionally tied? Obviously im not familiar with Catskill flies, but they are pretty interesting looking.
