Seems odd to me since in central Indiana they seem to be quite thick. They even run up the small creeks in the spring looking for romance I suppose. Right about now, you should be able to sight cast for them in the Wabash. You can wade the entire length from the Eel river feed to the other end of town ... about 10 miles of river. I actually fished White River running thru Muncie and that is where I got that terrible smell. It is full of carp too but they were smarter than I.
