Fish For Life 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Ya, i got in touch with him but found that he didn't have nay left. Still very nice of him to offer. Thanks again by the way. The good news is that i found an old 7wt line. A few years ago my uncle gave me all his old fly fishing stuff, nothing much useful but i kept some of it. All the rest went into a box into my closet. I completely forgot about it until a couple of days when i remembered that in that box was an old, yet unused, 7wt line. Im going to give it a try and see how it works out. Thanks everyone for there help.
ditz2 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2014 Take it to the back yard and make some casts. Then pull off several feet of line and look closely to see if it is cracked. Just a few years ago I took an old line on a trip to the salt and about half way thru my visit I discovered that it was cracked all over. I went ahead and fished it for the remainder of the trip with no issues but replaced it when I got home. It still worked reasonably well. At least well enough that I didn't know it had an old man problem of wrinkles and cracks where they ain't supposed to be. The new line did work much better but then again the new lines are better than the old ones were when they were new. Unless it is in terrible condition it will work better than the 10wt you have been considering
