Fly Tying

More fly tying this evening. Not sure where to try tomorrow but do plan on fishing! Gotta "test" the Dry Fly Hackle Wrap Near Deere and Guadalupana on trout! At least it's an excuse to go fishing! Pictures.

Caught a Sunfish and Bluegill with the Guadalupana, the caught several more with the Griffith's Gnat this evening. Have one last go Saturday in Fort Worth for trout at TRWD Flyfest! Today's Video. Hope to close out the Season with a Bruiser possibly!

Made the run across the border to the Lower Illinois River in OK. One of limited out on trout; the other did not. Still working the video. For now, here is... Today's Catch! Only two were caught with fishing flies.. one went for a Guadaulpana and the other went for a variant - Near Guad (Guadalupana tied on a Near Deere jig fly hook).

Here is the follow-on video from yesterday; looks like the day before was the day to wet wade and catch them on the fly! Follow-on Video.

Started Sunday morning with a swing and miss at one pond. Decided to move to another spot just down the road. Windy and cold; did not plan to fish for long. But, then got a bite on the PMOT… turned out to be a nice Bluegill! Was about ready to head home, but decided on “one more cast” trying something different… put on a strike indicator and went with a COAF Guadalupana. Took a little to figure out the hookset but ended up losing count of how many were caught and released. Even came back later that evening and lost count again of what was caught and released. Will get a video posted of the evening round later in the week. For now, here is the video from this morning! Out and About Sunday Morning Pond Fishing.

Was trying to catch fish at Kroger park, specifically, Bass using the Tube Popper Fly that worked well at Stoney Hollow Pond. Switched to a Damsel Fly Variant when it did not work, then switched back to the Tube Popper Fly. No luck there, so went with a Guadalupana... it worked. Do check out the video for tips and an idea on the retrieve we used when working the Guadalupana. Liked the fishing fly but did lose two Bass that threw the hook out after the initial hook set. Decided to tie Guadalupanas to replace the one lost this trip. Then, decided to give away two of them instead of the Near Deere Give Away for this month! Here is a quick tie demo of how we tie the Guadalupana. Uses minimal material, and is simple to tie. Works on trout, bass, and bluegill. Do give it a try, and do keep guessing on our Fishing Fly Give Away of two Guadalupana fishing flies.

One tied with a Palmer Hackle. Other with a Dry Fly Hackle. Both on size 8 streamer hooks. See more and comment in our video posted on our YouTube Channel!
