Saltybum 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2014 Been finding a few more big trout on the flats in June than I did this past spring. After starting out a couple weeks ago with a 26" one I started going backwards, 25.5, 24, 23, 22, 20. The big girls are hard to fool and many times I would look to my side and there's a gator 20 feet away coming right at me. Busted again! Well today my time was running short with a fast approaching thunder storm and looking to be skunked. On the way back I made a blind cast along a long sandy edge next to a nice grassy area and game on. She was right at 27". Nice for sure but I'm still looking for that 28" plus lady. All these past few fish have been eating only baitfish imitations. But then again that's what's been on the flats. Lots of mullet. She swam away strong and to get bigger but I doubt she hit a slider any time soon.
