kennebec12 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2014 After only getting to fish a local pond for smallmouths since the end of June (on-call at work), I finally made it up north again. In the Bingham, Maine area fishing the small mountain streams. No trophy trout in these streams but the fishing is fast and fun, brookies in the 4-8in range. Hot flies for the area on the small waters were a partridge soft hackle with orange floss size 14 dead drifted in fast water, and an olive parachute with gold antron post size 16 on the tail end of pools. Some pictures of the brookies and waterfalls. No salmon on this trip, maybe next time. Visited a big cow moose on a remote pond, that was soon scared off by a black bear who was probably looking for blueberries. Didn't take any pics of the bear since I am rather skiddish about them after two close call run ins with them. I trucked it back to the road pretty quick. troutguy 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2014 My brother in law used to live between Brownville and Milo. He shot a moose last year right before he moved to Clover, SC. I love those little stream Brookies. The yellow one you caught is very pretty. That looks like a nice place to fish.
wschmitt3 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2014 I love Maine and I love brookies. I happen to be lucky enough to live near a place that has very healthy populations of naturally reproducing brookies and I don't visit often enough. Your post inspired me to go up and make a visit to the little guys soon. Nice pictures. Seems like you had a good trip. Congrats.
