jlb1119 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2014 Just wanted to share a pretty good deal I found on that big auction site. 100 pieces of Whiting midge sized grizzly saddle hackle for $19.99 (free shipping). Placed an order and got today, sizes ranged from 18 to 24 with the bulk in size 20. Was a little skeptical but decided to take one for the team and am pretty happy with what I got for that price point. Just an FYI, hopefully this type of posting is allowed on here.... Time to tie up some Griffiths gnats!
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2014 I'm like you... skeptical. At 19 cents apiece that sounds too good to be true, ... it costs more than that just for shipping... and I have suspect there's a catch somewhere. Did you use your credit card? Christopher K 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2014 Just so you guys know, you can get a half cape of whitings midge sized hackle for around 20 bucks....
jlb1119 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2014 Used my credit card through pay pal so not too worried about any kind of unscrupulous behavior. The hackle was in a plastic zip lock and sent in a letter envelope, cost to ship was 48 cents..... company was "hairflairs", maybe they are trying to unload stuff post-feather craze
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2014 Christopher brings up a good question: what do you mean by 100 "pieces"? Is that 100 capes or 100 feathers?
Bugsy 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2014 Just so you guys know, you can get a half cape of whitings midge sized hackle for around 20 bucks.... I haven't seen that deal. A 1/2 midge saddle sells for $40 (bronze) to $50 (silver). I saw the listing mentioned by the OP. It's 100 feathers, appearing mostly to be 6-8". By my best guess, the OP received approximately what he'd get in a $33 1/4-silver. Not a bad deal if he needs 455 G-gnats. He sounds happy.

Crackaig 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2014 Sounds like a good deal, obtaining the smaller sizes of hackle is always a challenge. Especially if you want them in quantity. What amazes me is the cost of sending a letter. Less than half what we get screwed for here. As an added bonus it got there! Cheers, C.
