Deer Antler Vise

Recommended Posts

My most recent project, I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of this vise; the jaws are remarkably effective and the base proved to be very stable. My next undertaking will be to construct a fly box.

Thank You and Tight Lines,

I like that. Can you share the construction steps? I am interested in the part where the fly is inserted and the screw details for securing the hook.

Now that is just COOL as all get out! Very natural indeed...Beat just hanging a set on the wall...I am curious as well on how the holder assembly works.

Looks like a fun project.

I believe Sheridan Anderson described an antler vise like this in his Curtis Creek Manifesto.

That's pretty neat. I love the incorporation of the tool and spool holders into the same antler. Nice curio to have on the shelf.

If you want to make a permanent, usable vise ... you could use carbide inserts in the jaws.

You're certainly a talented young man. Your going to make a box incorporating antler or just from wood? Look forward to seeing that.
