kennebec12 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 Flies went mobile today. They should hopefully arrive on Saturday, but it could be Monday. They are a soft hackle caddis pupa, for me they have fished good wet or with some floatant on them they are a decent emerger for a few casts.
add147 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 BB mine will be going out Monday...I messaged you about my knee and it is healing pretty good now. Sorry about the delay but I just wasn't able to sit for a long period of time at my tying bench. Thanks for hosting and I hope you and your family has a Merry Christmas!!!! John Hall 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2014 Thank you Jolly Red! I will certainly do that. I first need to talk to our national postal service officers. I would hate it if the flies get lost in the mail. Personally, I would go with FedEx, but their international fees are so high, so this rules them out automatically. Enjoy the holidays everyone! breambuster 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Well, Guys, we received 3 more sets of flies yesterday. First we received a set of cone head muddler minnows from J-Kno. I can see some fun times ahead for these. Thanks, J-Kno. Next we have some Royal Coachman wets from Crackleback that I KNOW are going to see some fishing time this next year. Thanks, Crackleback for the flies and congratulations for completing another year in the Swap Club! And thanks for the extras. Looking forward to use them. Awesome job with the spun deer hair! And last, but certainly not least, are some soft hackle caddis flies from Kennebec. Kennebec, you are doing some fine work with duck flank feathers. I wish you would make a YouTube tutorial on that. And thanks to you, also, for all the extras. I'm going to enjoy using them all. Take care BB
kennebec12 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2014 Glad they made it there in good shape, Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah. I've thought about trying to make a video, maybe I'll do one on that if I get any free time here soon. Can't wait to see this months set, sounds like a good bunch so far. breambuster 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 We have received 2 more sets of flies for the December Swap. There is a great set of Bachkowsky Hendrickson Emergers from Joseph Russel. I had never seen this pattern before but I really like it. It is similar to a Hendrickson Emerger that I fished in the early Spring and had great success with. I'm looking forward to trying this one out. And from Border Collies we have TWO very nice patterns. There is a "Baetis Sparkle Dun" and a "Wired $3 Dip." That's an interesting name, isn't it! These are both great looking flies that we are all going to enjoy fishing and learning from. I will be out of town until Saturday and we are still waiting on a set or two, so they won't go ahead until after the first of the year, but I'll get them out as soon as possible. Our children weren't able to get together for Christmas, but we will be together this week and celebrating together. My mail is to be held at the PO, so any flies that are in the mail should be well taken care of. Take care. BB
breambuster 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 I double-checked and the only set out is the one from Add. He has had an accident which involved an injury from which he is recovering. That slowed him down, a bit, about getting his flies out, but they are in the mail now. I'll get them this weekend and I'll have the flies back in the mail the first of next week. J-Kno 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 BB, I really want to thank you for picking up the torch and seeing the 2014 swap through to the end. I and the rest of the group truly appreciate you not letting this fall to the wayside.
add147 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 BB, I really want to thank you for picking up the torch and seeing the 2014 swap through to the end. I and the rest of the group truly appreciate you not letting this fall to the wayside. I share the same thought even though I was only in this swap for the last two months. It takes a lot of one's time to be in charge of a swap. Hats off to all those that take the time to put one on!!!!
breambuster 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2015 Sorry to be so long, guys, and they still aren't in the mail. But I did get them sorted out this afternoon. Unfortunately, our small town Post Office closes at Noon on Wednesdays. But they are ready to go and I'll try to get them to the Post Office tomorrow. I'm still playing catch-up from last week and tomorrow morning is filled with appointments, but I should have a little window of opportunity right after lunch tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing comes along to fill it up. I'll let you know after they actually go out in the mail. Thanks, again, for your patience. BTW, I'm posting a Bluegill Fly Swap right after I finish writing this post. Just about any trout fly will work for Bluegills, especially soft hackle, nymph, and other wet flies. Also, any foam fly or terrestrial will work as well. And some dry flies, such as Humpys. I would be glad for any of you guys to sign up for my Bluegill Fly Swap. Take care BB
breambuster 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Just wanted to let you all know that your flies are in the mail! And I wanted to say "Thanks" to each of you for hanging in there and making sure that the swap club stayed together until the end of the year. That was my goal when I took over the hosting duties, but you guys are the ones who made it possible. You've been a great group to work with. I appreciate how you have all worked hard to make sure that your flies arrived here in a timely manner. And I want to thank you all for being patient with me when I wasn't able to get them back out as quickly as we all would have liked. But we HAVE been operating through a holiday season when time is at a premium. You have done a great job of tying up some excellent patterns and I've learned a lot from you guys. Also, I appreciate your generosity! I have received a LOT of extras from you, some duplicates of what you sent in and also some new fly patterns. And there have been some other goodies along the way which I really appreciate. Thank you all for all you have done and Thanks to Vicrider for taking over the 'miester' job for next year. I look forward to continuing to participate with you guys in the "Fly Of The Month" swap in 2015. Take Care Breambuster
