Olive Near Deere in Size 10 was the go to fishing fly this trip to the Lower Illinois River in OK. Lower Illinois River for Trout and Striped Bass!. fshng84 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2018 Last weekend we made the run across the border from Texas to Oklahoma to fish the Lower Illinois River - specifically, the tail race section below Lake Tenkiller. Overall, it was a nice day fishing the tail race. Two of us fished and limited out with six Rainbow Trout each. Power Worms under a Bubble Fly Rig and a Near Deere were the bait and fishing fly of choice this round! Fun stuff... do check back periodically. Trout Stocking Season is just around the corner in Texas, and it starts next week on the Blue River and other locations in Oklahoma. Hope to get a round of trout fishing at the Blue River and/or Medicine Park in November. Limited Out on Lower Illinois River. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Mixed up the video this time by adding background info, the recipe for the pattern, suggestions for fishing the GRHEN, along with the video of us tying one. This variant uses a bead head and pheasant tail instead of hares ear guard hairs for the the tail of the fishing fly. Do give it a try! 1 of 3 Suggested Flies....
