vicrider 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2014 Okay, we need 2 more swappers to fill to make our even dozen on the signup thread but it has been suggested I make a list of categories so some can check them over and make sure they don't need to get into expensive orders of exotic material to complete the year. These are all pretty basic ties most of us have goodies for on our bench. I also left the categories less restrictive so we can tie flies we're comfortable within the designated categories. My goal is that a person were to save all the swap flies in one fly box at the end of the year we'd have a box ready to go fish for ALMOST anything that swims almost anywhere they swim. If there is a category that would keep you out for any reason let me know and we can do a sub for that month. January...New to you named fly...Pick a pattern as simple or hard as you want to make it but a fly that is new to your vise. February...Bead Head...nymph or bugger or... March...Soft Hackle...One of the simplest but most effective flies April...Bass oriented...Popper...Deer Hair...Streamer...Articulated...Bendback...Probably our biggest fly of the year May...Of course...Mayfly...and if you can handle it okay let's see some wings on these...I'm going to try extended tail (maybe) June...Emerger class fly...CDC is always nice but not necessary...some great emergers without CDC July...Red, White and/or Blue theme...I have a bugger for this category August...Little ones...Size 18 hook or smaller...type open September...Streamer pattern...feather or fur or both as you see fit...I call a Muddler a streamer even if I can't tie them October...Let's have something orange in this pattern. Otherwise wide open to type and species sought Nov...Animal fur...Deer...Elk...Squirrel...Rabbit...Let's see where our imagination takes us Dec...Your favorite fly for your favorite species
