Would there be any interest in a carp swap? And would anybody be willing to host?

 

Scrolling through the history here, I saw the last carp swap didn't go according to plan. I hope that doesn't put people off.

I'd be in but don't really want to host since I'm doing the monthly for the year. We'll see how it goes and if no one can step in I could probably host it. This time I want to get my flies back. Really thinking of doing some carping this year and this is the best place to get the flies for it.

what happened during the last swap? SM or swapper issue?

artimus, it's a long story best not dredged up again. Do to circumstances never really explained the flies were never returned. Some members were very upset and before it was over we ended up losing two members over it, one being the swapmeister who disappeared from the board.

 

It left everyone a little leery about swaps for a bit but since it is the only time it's happened in my time here and I guess there was one other quite some time back, this has been a completely reliable board for swapping. Never has a swapmeister done this again and tho it is rare once in a while we have had a default on a signed up swapper so we didn't have a complete swap but still everyone came out great.

Yeah, I think it would be a great way to get some flies to fill a carp box. There's gotta be some more people out there who do some fly carpin', or want to give it a shot, so we'll see if someone else is up for hosting first.

I'm sorry but that kind of cracks me up. Yep, was have a monthly swap every month. It's full and runs for an entire year with the same people for the year if they all stay in. If you're interested watch for a call for a replacement if one is needed during year. We do a different theme each month and makes for a great fly box by end of year.

I was an unfortunate member of the first carp fly swap. As a matter of fact it was my first swap to join ever - of all the luck ; ) I'm sure the next will go smoothly and look forward to seeing the ties!
