JasonV 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 Here is a good, easy pattern. Search ant fly tying on youtube and you get alot more patterns if you want a different one.
SilverCreek 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 Photos pulled off the internet. Tie foam cylinder onto hook and wrap with hackle. Cut flat foam sheet into strips. Tie folded strip pattern.
RickZieger 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 You can also use non lip foam matting made for shelves.

FlaFly 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 Lots of ants online and on the database (above). Ants can be floating or sinking, and can be made out of just about anything.
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 Not a great picture but here's one I made using hot melt glue (it comes in colors). Hot melt glue generally sinks but the hackle makes this a dry fly, till it gets soaked.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 Like others posted above, I tie mine with pieces of foam. Like a McMurray Ant, Which uses two pieces of balsa wood, I use two pieces of foam connected. I use braid for the connector. Tie it on and use what ever you want for legs. I have a more complete SBS over on http://www.flyrecipes.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewlink&link_id=987655992&Itemid=

SilverCreek 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 My UV resin over glass beads. They are Harrison Steeves' Pattern. http://www.oocities.org/gold_trout/articles/TransparANT.html I've posted this before. You can see the black thread going over the back red bead on the fly below.
