JustinCarf 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2013 My favorite warm water fish to cast flies to had to be the LMB. Here in Chicago, they're in every lake. I love catching smallies, too, but they're not so abundant here.
Endemic 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2013 I voted for other because one of my personal favorites is the flathead catfish. Not many chase them purposely with a fly, but once you hook into a big one, it changes your life lol. Best description I can think of is if you attached your fly to the back of a locomotive. It's a long drawn out fight that usually leaves your arms numb.No kidding!! I caught 36lb on crayfish flies at night. Took me 20mins to got it land! I was hunting for smallie but it happened! Flyfishing at night? Sure make sure that you have a backlight and white or orange line you can see your line at night! Just hint for ya.. My vote is smallies... I like to catch stripers too Here's pics that I caught all in one night last year

Curtis Fry 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 I can't resist a good bluegill tug, but LMB on topwater is tough to beat...
SILKHDH 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2013 I got to say that gar fishing is pretty cool. You get to site fish. See the fish, throw at it, watch it chase the fly, grab the fly, shake its head, and boom , the fight is on. I love it. Exciting as it gets.
SILKHDH 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2013 Endemic, WOW! I too fish for cats with flies. But never got a flathead before. Mainly channel cats. They pull like cazy. But that flathead is a fun , fun , fun, sounding fight. I have access to hybrid bluegills that are a foot long. Small compaired to that , but fun. shamboner 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 Voted other. My favorite has to be peacock bass down in South Florida. Pretty, exotic, fight hard and you can site cast them with big topwaters and anything that mimics a shiner.
Christopher K 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 this year I think I'll have to switch mine to pike and musky but for now carp is definitely tops
bzt712 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2013 I chose other. Up here is western NY we have a lot of native bowfin. Super aggressive and a lot of fun with some topwater flies. They run like a king salmon also.
sniperfreak223 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2013 Smallmouth, followed by panfish, carp, pike/muskie then largemouth...but I'll fish for anything honestly, I've even managed a few catfish.

WildandClear 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2014 I love love bluegills, crappie, and bass, but by far my favorite is pike. I've never lived anywhere with many smallies but I would sure love to go after them.
Knuckledragger 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2014 For north american fish, I'll take largemouth. But overall fish, barramundi or redfish.
mfs686 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Bluegill all the way. Plentiful, easy inexpensive flies and they taste oh so good.
