Toneloc 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Anyone know where I can get that hard Stryafoam for poppers. I want a fairly large chunk that I can shape on my own rather than those prefabbed heads. Any one know where to get it? Thanks in advance... Tony
Guest Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Tony, I have heard of many people who buy those cheap foam sandles from the dollar store. They take a piece of pipe(or anything round, hollow and metal) and punch through the sandle getting a nice circular piece of foam. You can then shape it anyway you see fit. Of course I prefer using Balsa, it's easy to shape, it's lightweight and very durable.
Toneloc 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Smallie Interesting... I'm looking for a little bit longer piece than the thickness of a sandle, but I might be able to glue some back to back. I think balsa just might be the ticket....I know I've seen some pretty decent chunks of that before. Thanks for the sugestions. Tony
Guest Report post Posted February 8, 2005 This shop has it, along with many other things I've avoided buying to date, but it ain't easy. Soggy Bottom
fishyfranky 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 I got 16 square feet of 1/2 inch thick closed cell foam at Home Depot for $13CDN Its 4 interlocking squares of blue, green, red, yellow and its used as a play mat. It also comes in all grey for use as a truck bed liner. Cut lengthwise, it should make anthing you need or 2 slabs glued (3m spray adhesive) will give you 1 inch wide floating goodness for killer musky jerk bait poppers! ps. let me know how it works, my 3yr old daughter confiscated the mats as I walked into the house. TOMMY TROUT 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 I know Steve Winters from "Soggy Bottoms". He has very good foam for poppers and whatever. The foam is very dense, lots of colors, and at a fair price. He also sells cutters for your drill. You can use these to drill out poppers. The foam from sandels is very good as well. You can find foam in all kinds of places if you keep your eyes open for it. Good luck!
