UV Resins

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am wondering about uv resins. How are they made? What makes them cure under uv light?

I currently use Bug Bond and it is okay. I am planning on purchasing the Loon set with the new Flow. I've heard good things about it.

I would like your thoughts about Loons resin vs ccg or bug bond, and uses you have thought of for uv resins.

Thanks,

David

David,

You have probably noticed that Bug Bond has a strong chemical smell and that it does not cure tack free. I addressed this problem several years ago with a resin that does not smell as much and that will cure tack free. In fact if you mix my resin 50/50 with Bug Bond, it will convert the Bug Bond to a tack free resin.

My resin will coat the tacky surface of the UV cured Bug Bond, Clear Cure Goo, Solarez, and Loon resins and bond to them forming a coatind that is actually a part of the resin below.

The reason that Bug Bond does not cure is explained here:

Here are some customer posts about my resin:

SilverCreek knows UV resins and I suggest you review his product line before making a final decision. He produces an outstounding product line.

I got some of the "Crystal UV" a few weeks ago and so far it has lived up to its reputation!! I regret the $$$$ spent on other products wish I had done better research before taking the plunge silvercreek's dries fast and tack free so far I have used it to make epoxy ants and grass shrimp and they look great!

Just got my order of Crystal US yesterday from Silvercreek, ordered the resin & his UV light. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. In all the post I read on all the forums I didn't read one bad thing about his product. Pm Silvercreek and he'll send you all the inflation about his product.
