mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2015 Feel the wind shifting you around a bit, now, Steve? Congratulations for sticking to it. I am not so good at it. I've been thinking of losing some weight. I'm starting slow. When I get a double bacon triple cheeseburger with mayonnaise and extra bacon ... I leave the last bite on the plate. By the end of the year, I'll be leaving a dozen or so fries there, too. AND I only drink diet Dr. Pepper. I feel better just thinking about it.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 That's great to hear Adam. Always good to motivate others to get healthier. I've been doing a lot of biking myself the past week now that I got the bike out of the shed.
Adam Saarinen 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks Steve! Today was shorly the hardest 30mins so fare! Took my float tube out in the sea this morning looking for a big spawning mama pike & was kicking around for 2.5hours & seen NOTHING! Dosent mater, my float tube is from Guideline & their logo is "It's all about the experience" I still had fun, but the 30mins was HARD! One good thing i invested in years ago for the exercise bike & my mountain bike was a gel seat, the same for both of them! Better for the bum!
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Funny I was just looking at a gel seat for my mountain bike yesterday at Walmart. Couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on it, but as much biking as I am starting to do now that the weather is nicer I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and just buy one. Piker20 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2015 Steve that's one way to make your house feel bigger. I have been saying since you started this thread that I'll start tomorrow but still haven't got around to it. Was really suffering with a hip this week after some very light wading and I'm still under 40! Really am going to have to sort myself out. The pension fund I'm in is tied to my state age of retirement which looks like being post 70 at this point. I'm determined to get as many pennies back of them as I can so need to sort healthy life style out.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 Nice before and after, Steve. I have to keep Wife from seeing your after photo ... she likes tall men.
mybadhabit 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 That's great Steve, I started eating healthier about 3 months ago and have dropped just shy of 20 lbs. Big drawback though is that the pants are falling off my ass now, but I don't quite fit into the 34's that are the next step down for me. I can't stand wearing a belt due to the fact that I wear a tool belt for work and it's just too much crap around my waist and things get pinched, so I go beltless. Keep up the great work. mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 Suspenders will keep your pants up, too.
artimus001 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2015 those are amazing before and after photos. bike seats...... less is more. i've spent a ton of time turning cranks. i used to go on rides of 100km on a regular basis. no matter how large your butt is; the bones that we sit on are about the same size/distance apart. if you are riding a 'sport bike' (60/40 weight distribution), nothing beats a well fitted racing saddle, imo. cut-outs are a feature to look for to prevent "penile numbness". it was a world of difference when i switched saddles. if it is a bike that you ride to the coffee shop, the bigger and plumper the better! Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 As of this morning I now weigh 230lbs. That makes it an exactly 170lbs total weight loss now. My original goal was to get down to 220lbs but now I'm thinking maybe going to 210lbs, not totally sure yet, but either way I'm really close to where I want to be I believe. mikechell 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 I thought the Earth had shifted a little, when I looked at the Sun rising this morning. I think you're weight loss, Steve, has tipped the globe on a slightly different axis. If the fishing is better this year, I'll believe my gains in experience and knowledge are showing great effect. Of course, if it's worse ... you tilted the Earth !!!

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Down to 225lbs now as of today. Total weight loss is 175lbs now. Been buying new clothes lately, some shirts are just a plain XL. Quite different than the old days of XXXXL. It's nice to be able to not have your shirt double as a parachute lol.
