May Flies from the Vice

Quite like that fly Crackaig. Good use for biots. I have some bright biots that would make a good sight fishing pattern and the dubbing would hide the majority of the biot from the fish. Whats with the little political spotter? Has he got access to any decent fishing?

Basic & cheap: craftstore craft foam, contact glue, feathers & bling,

Orvis 6/0-13KE hook & 0.030" lead wire to add some 'plop'.

Used an arbor rig to turn the foam in a drill press.

Foam cutter is a brass tube from old lamp fixture.

I thinks the hook is worth more than all the rest, LOL ☻

Needs more jazz on the arse end, but for now, she'll raise up something toothy.

Love it! I'm going to steal that idea and make some pike poppers for my June vacation in the Minnesota Arrowhead. I hope to have a few of these shredded up real good by the end of the trip.

Set of nights this week, then a rest week, another set of nights after that - to let the mayfly get started and then a final rest week full of fishing! My club river has a phenomenal mayfly population and my set of nights last year really messed things up so I missed out. This year I won't miss out and I've been busy tying up nymphs to use in the morning ahead of the much anticipated dry-fly action. I know the body looks too white, but it is all wool so will darken when wet.

The fish were caught on a rust colored variation of this pattern. The fly pictured hasn't been trimmed yet.

Trimmed? What are you removing and why? I would be keen to see the fly after you've tweaked it. What did you find wrong fishing it as is?
