MuskyFlyGuy 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2015 Pop, pause, pop, pause...and then the water explodes. That is why we love to fish poppers. The weather here has gotten in the way of fishing and I thought I would use my time efficiently. I will mail out the dozen plus an extra for the SM to him on Tuesday. After 20-30 bass, they will show some wear and you can replace the hackle and the tail, maybe even an eye. Some of my favorites have been rebuilt several times and they still catch fish. Have fun, enjoy your time on the water, and we all are looking forward to seeing our collections. Tom.

add147 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2015 joseph, That's funny because I bought 3 pairs of flip flop at Dollar Tree. Let me know how you are cutting yours. I am using a hollow hole punch and a rubber mallet to punch mine but it really doesn't do that great of a job cutting them out in a good circle. They are some what lope sided...LOL

They are some what lope sided...LOL I don't "hammer" the punch through the foam, I work it back and forth as I push it through. When mine come out lop-sided, or narrower in the middle, or in some other way "deformed" ... I use that to position the face. If you slowly roll the cylinder across the table, you can see that the face has an angle ... I then make sure the angle is positioned on the hook so it's more forward at the top. I find this creates the best pop in the water.
