richz 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Leaving tomorrow morning for the North Branch of the Au Sable river. Will be fishing around the Lovells area. Hopefully we will be able to catch some brook trout. Went last year at the same time and got skunked.
shoebop 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 I fished there last Friday. I got skunked but my B.I.L. got some action on nymphs. A brookie and a real nice brown that didn't quite make it to the net.
richz 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Will the browns be in that skinny water?
shoebop 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Sure. I've caught them there. Just look for some nice holes and deeper runs where they hold during the day.
Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Not all the water on the North Branch is skinny, even in the Lovells area. I was once taken to a spot on the NB during the Hex hatch and 3 of us caught several 17-24" browns apiece in a stretch of water you could walk end-to-end in a couple of minutes. I'm not saying where that was except that it was not near Lovells. My point is just that there are big browns in the North Branch.
