corney 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2015 Key is whatever floats your boat! I grew up with a Zebco rod with a closed spin cast Rhino when I really moved up and got a job, before that it was cheap Diawas. I had fun and caught fish with a red and white and five of diamonds spoon. That ain't wrong either! Now I like $200 20 year old fly rods!
flytyer62 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 if you intend to fish both nymphs and dries with it I would up to a 9' 4 wt with a "medium/ fast action. will give you the ability to power / turn over a nymph rig but will not require extra effort for close in dry fly fishing . the 9 foot length will still be good for dries but will give you the extra length for nymphing. You are looking at a good time as a lot of manufacturers are discounting some of their lines in favor of newer 2016 model. you can get a decent higher end rod for the just a bit more than the accel. steve
