retrocarp 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2015 I played around with this pattern (copied hopper) a couple of months ago. It's been a go to top water for my last few trips. Doesn't sit high, but it will pop and gurgle if jerked. It's been doing well on sunfish and small bass. Going to try a new color combo tomorrow. The original color combo: copied foam hopper (15).JPG slightly different color combo tied last night ... ready to fish tomorrow: copied hopper orange (1).JPG copied hopper orange (2).JPG copied hopper orange (3).JPG Hi mike ...What sizes are you tying these little foam critters in ? crazy4oldcars 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2015 Here's some streamers I kicked out. Pattern: VMC Stream Fly 4X Long #2 Hook Danville's 210 Waxed Fly Master Plus Thread Chartreuse Rexlace Plastic Lacing (Hobby Lobby) Silver Rope Tinsel (Wal-Mart) White Hackles Chartreuse Buck Tail Very interesting! Kind of a fusion of several patterns. I like them. Gonna add that to my "want-to-tye" list. Kirk B.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2015 Retro ... I tie my "copied hopper" on size 8 Eagle Claw from Walmart. For those of you who go in to Walmart ... on the bottom shelf, below all the other hooks, will be a box. Four rows of Eagle Claw hooks in sizes 2 through ... 8 or 10. These are light wire hooks and the "copied hopper" floats well with that hook. I've tied them on ... more substantial ... heavier hooks and there's not enough foam to float it, but it does "suspend". So, tied on a light wire hook, it's a great, subtle top water fly. On a heavier hook, it's a good drowned bug.
