Otter's Soft Milking Egg

Recommended Posts

TMC 2487 Size 12 - 6mm Otter Egg Transparent Apricot - Transparent Red Seed Bead - Otter's Milking Veil - UNI-Thread Trico 17/0 - LocTite Super Glue.

They sell glass red beads that are solid round which I think would be perfect for these flies, but they are only available at 1 online store and you have to buy way too many of them..

The soft milking eggs are killer flies. I've ordered from their store but usually just buy them at the Denver Fly Fishing Show. I've caught a lot of fish on them :)

Depends on the definition of a "fly" which varies from state to state. This comes up all the time, so use the search function to find previous discussions. Perfectly valid fly in some states, not so in others. Would not be a problem in CA for example, but would not use it in fly only waters in AK, etc.

I have read several of those discussions on the board. Most concern types of flies. I think it depends a lot on water and definition like your said. I do know on the White River the C&R section lists no scented baits specifically. This is because the stocked fish in the river are trained to eat Power Bait to keep the tourists and guides happy. No matter how many ways they try to write complete laws per state someone always comes up with a new "gray" area.
